First things first, it’s important to pick a location that replicates what you’ve been envisioning. When you close your eyes and think about your wedding day in Marquette, MI, are you seeing Lake Superior in the background? Or are you seeing pine trees? Once you’ve nailed down what you’re wanting for your outdoor ceremony spot, that’s when location scouting happens. Luckily, I’ve already done some of that for you to ease some of your wedding/elopement planning stress!
one of the most popular locations in Marquette known for jumping off the Black Rocks into Lake Superior, but also has a beautiful cove where ceremonies can be held. During the fall, spring, & summer months, it’s accessible by vehicle but during the winter months it can be accessed by walking.
imagine this – hiking up Sugarloaf at 7:00 am during the fall and having a very intimate ceremony on top of the mountain. I just described an elopement I photographed this past October & I highly recommend this location! Sugarloaf has an easy way and a hard way to climb but both involve stairs. The view is worth the steps though, trust me!
Here I believe you get the best of both worlds – tall pines and Lake Superior! With plenty of trails to walk and sand to trek through, you’re bound to find a spot you’d like to have your ceremony. (PS – I haven’t had a ceremony here yet so I’m patiently waiting!)
Similar to Little Presque Isle, Wetmore Landing provides both woodsy and Lake Superior vibes. There’s also a trail you can walk to trek out onto some beautiful rocks.
All of these locations inspire me & I hope of these locations inspires you too!
